4.7 Seconds later, the
aliens return to the house, where Bridget slumps to the kitchen floor, stressed
and exhausted. Tucker attempts to tell Gwendolyn of her strange encounter with
the shadow but is cut off. “Bridget and I have something to tell you,” says the
calico as Mickey meanders into the room. Something you must know if you are to
protect yourselves.”

4.8 Cuddling close to
Bridget for support, Gwendolyn begins. “We come from a different planet, much
like yours, except on Hissyfit, all the primates are extinct.”
“On what?” says Mickey, confused and irritated. “And what
are extinct? Stop talking gibberish.”
Patiently, Gwendolyn tries again. “Our planet was once
overrun with primates—what you call ‘humans.’ And like your humans, they were
in control.”
