their beloved planet passes from the consciousness of the aliens to the Shadow
Scout, who trembles with hope.

4.5 They watch the shadow
slide past and then creep from their hiding spot. “We’ve got to get back to the
house,” says Bridget. “You can come out. It’s all clear.”

4.6 But unknown to our
aliens, the Shadow Scout is one step ahead, even then invading the house to
which they run. Luckily, Tucker intercepts the Shadow, thinking it belongs to
her human. Confused to find no one casting it, she sniffs and paws at the
disembodied outline, chasing it about the room. Thoroughly harassed, the Scout
slips back outside.
