Part IV: X Marks the Spot






4.16 Neither alien could respond, overwhelmed by the immensity, by the purity, by the beauty of time. Their consciousnesses reached outward in all directions until focused by the Shadow Scout. “And X marks the spot of our destination.”

4.17 The two friends shared a memory of life together on their natural world, a world where only free animals roamed. A world of clean water and air, where predator and prey took and enjoyed the lives they were given. Now the Shadow Scout was pressing them to look upon their planet, an incomprehensible marvel—to look down upon their world as if a marble.
